Success for world’s first newborn kidney dialysis machine

Researchers from Italy have created the first ever kidney dialysis machine designed for treatment of infants and newborns. Prior to the creation of the newborn dialysis machine, newborns used to undergo peritoneal dialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy, but research teams have found this procedure to be ineffective because of the small size of infants. The machine that researchers created is referred to as the Cardio-Renal Pediatric Dialysis Emergency Machine and is effective for use on small pediatric patients.
